Just blaze also played this on Shade 45 the other night. I love this version a lot better than the version that was on Blueprint 3. There’s something special about a scratched hook. But maybe I’m biased as a DJ. Nonetheless, I do think the Timbaland version fit the album more.

“New York, New York, big city of dreams & everything in New York ain’t always what I seems.”-Tha Doggpound

With the World Series scheduled to start tonight & both the Yankees & Phillies vying for baseball’s finest prize, there’s only one song & video that constantly runs threw my head. Tonight at 7:57 pm, Philadelphia will go into the New York & crush the buildings.

Apparently Just blaze also played Jay-Z – Reminder (Just Blaze Remix) as well. Hopefully rips turn up soon. I think it’s pretty clear that 09, 10 is gonna be the year that Just Blaze dominates production. I can’t wait for Relapse 2.

Rakim felt disrespected by “Unauthorized Biography”

Posted by Rtoda @ 9:53 pm | Oct 27, 2009 | Posted under music discussion, videos

Rakim’s thoughts on Nas’ Unauthorized Biography of Rakim ((off Streets Disciple, 2004) is so interesting to me and I’m actually quite amazed that Rakim actually took offense to this song. I remember there was a rumor that there was supposed to be a video for this song and it was canceled when Rakim didn’t show up to the video shoot. Then later on he makes a cameo in the Juelz Santana Mic Check video. So Rakim can appear in a random Juelz Santana video but he can’t appear in a video of a song that worships him?

One of the biggest problems that Hip Hop has is a lack of respect for those who came before them, yet it seems as though the few times people do pay tribute other rappers, they’re shitted on for it. (see Kanye West: Big Brother) I can understand how it would be weird for NaS to not contact Rakim after doing the song, but I’m surprised that Rakim is not honored by the song.  I just can’t see NaS having any ulterior motives for doing the song. Had NaS done the unauthorized biography of KRS-One like he planned on doing, KRS-One would be ecstatic. Hip Hop kills me sometimes.  You can’t even honor someone who inspired you without getting into some sort of beef. It’s amazing to hear this interview then look back to the June 2006 MTV interview in which Rakim referred to the song as the “Ultimate Compliment”. I’m convinced Rakim is phony and/or jealous of the success NaS has had in the game using a style that he influenced.

“that song put things in perspective, nas is someone i respect and hes on a high plateua. he took time out to show me love. for somebody as big as nas to show ra’ love made me feel good”-Rakim I’m not sure if the embed video is still working but please check out this link if it’s not. http://www.mtv.com/videos/news/83903/the-ultimate-compliment.jhtml#id=1529705

50 CENT – Before I Self Destruct: The Movie (OFFICIAL TRAILER)

Posted by Rtoda @ 11:00 am | Oct 27, 2009 | Posted under movies

I was out of Philly for CMJ the entire week with spotty internet coverage so it was “unpossible” (C)-Deshawn Jackson for me to update the site. Anyway, I’m back. There’s nothing like a good hood flick however, over the past few years, I’ve felt myself outgrowing the ghetto hood movie genre with releases such as Belly 2. Nonetheless, I’ve found a movie I can get relatively excited about. The directorial debut of 50 Cent, “Before I Self Destruct,” will come as a bonus along with the CD.

Chamillionaire talks about meeting Michael Jordan

Posted by Rtoda @ 9:53 am | Oct 19, 2009 | Posted under sports

“Pay 15,000 for a jersey right now & I’ll take a picture with you.”-Michael Jordan

Scroll to 27:18 to see Chamillionaire to talking about how he met Michael Jordan. It’s one thing to tell someone no, but there’s no reason to treat your fans in this manner.

The Complex Soundboard 2: Click On It!

Posted by Rtoda @ 12:00 pm | Oct 16, 2009 | Posted under everything else

Since we laid down the audible-fuckery blueprint with the world-famous Complex Soundboard, it’s only right that we cook up a worthy sequel. And rest assured, this is no Blueprint 2—nope, we made the O.G. better by diversifying our lineup to feature a wider range of talking heads that includes old dudes (Larry David, Howard Dean), youngins (Latarian Milton), and hot women (Superhead, Olivia Munn, Kim Kardashian). Most importantly, SB 2 features two gems from the one and only Super Craka—you may not know him yet, but you will soon.
As with the original, the fun-filled clickfest above is a fully embeddable, interactive collection of awesome audio clips. Let the chatter begin! After the jump, read our handy legend so you can identify who’s who…

I really disappointed at myself for just seeing this now. But this is definitely a classic soundboard.

Nike Air Force 1 ‘Savage Beast’ Available Now

Posted by Rtoda @ 11:45 am | Oct 16, 2009 | Posted under sneakers

savage-beast-air-force-1

I only posted this because this shoe is so unique. It looks perfect for the weather in which most of the east coast is facing currently. The Nike Air Force 1 ‘Savage Beast’ has just officially been released today. The AF1 sports a completely orange upper constructed from pony hair along with an orange mid-sole which also uses pony hair a feature which is sort of unusual at there have not been many releases with pony hair on the actual sole unit. White denim is used for the Nike Swoosh and heel tab which features Savage Beast printed across it in red. Finishing up the sneakers is a gum sole and a pair of black metal lace locks with Nike printed across it in red.
