“Makes you think. Makes you think about the people in your life. And when I think, I think of Neil. If he were here now what would he say? He would say “John what’s it about? What’s life about… if you dont go through it as a man’s man?”. He’d say “Suck it up, take the fall do the time. That made you what you are. That makes you what you are. How long have we been around this thing of ours? This Cosa Nostra? 120 years. What’s it about? It’s about the rules, perimeters. You take the beating for a friend, you don’t run, you don’t lay down, you don’t betray who you are. You gotta remember Angie. My brother Gene, Joey Dimig, they don’t roll, they’re doing a thousand years now. Why? That’s the rule. You don’t break, you don’t rat. Yeah so you humbled me. So what you got? You got a war. You got a global war.You got a world wide crime syndicate now. There’s no rules. There’s no perimeters. There’s no feelings. There’s no feelings for this country. So… 5-10 years from now, they’re gonna wish there was an American Cosa Nostra. 5-10 years from now, Gthey’re gonna miss John Gotti.“
Gotti is a classic 1996 HBO original movie made for television, starring Armand Assante (as the infamous Gambino crime family Boss John Gotti). Definitely something you might want to check out if you haven’t seen it yet. Many of you may recognize this from the intro (Hova Song) off Jay-Z’s Life & Times of S. Carter Vol 3 (redone by Pain in the Ass) & Rick Ross’ Mafia Music 2.

The Rosenthals are the funniest duo in hip hop right now. Why aren’t these guys on MTV right now. Anyway, They’ve returned from their hiatus to show love to Kanye. Why didn’t I think of using this for a hook tho?

Versatile producer and long-time Nas collaborator Salaam Remi shares his thoughts on will.i.am using the very same Apache sample for the title track of Hip Hip Is Dead that Remi had used to create Thiefs Theme for Nas merely two years earlier. Thief’s Theme was so hard when it dropped. Shit made me want to aimlessly walk the streets with my hoodie on at 3 am. It’s a shame it never got the props it deserved.

President Barack Obama welcomed the NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers to the White House Monday. Obama said no team exemplified excellence on the court more than the Lakers did last year in winning their 15th league championship. It doesn’t get any better than Kobe the Gawd & Obama in the same room. I’m excited to go to the Lakers game this Friday against the 76ers to see the Gawd go in.
